Your first visit

An hour and a quarter, mostly resting

A first visit takes about an hour and a quarter. We talk first, then you rest in a recliner while the needles are in place. Visits after that take about an hour. Before you leave, you know what we did and what we suggest next, and you decide whether to come back.

In the room

  • Phones on silent, voices low

  • You may doze, and we will wake you gently

  • Tea at the end, if you like

  • Tell us about any access need and we will set up the chair

The visit

What happens, step by step

  1. 01

Step 1: Say hello at the front desk

Someone shows you the room and where to leave your shoes and coat.

  2. 02

    Step 2: A short talk

About 15 minutes at the side of the room, with an acupuncturist, about your health and your week.

  3. 03

Step 3: Rest in a recliner

A few needles at points on the hands, forearms, feet or lower legs, then 30 to 45 minutes of rest under a blanket.

  4. 04

Step 4: A plan, and the front desk

We say what we did and what we suggest. You pay what you can on the way out.

Before you come

What to wear and bring

  • Loose sleeves and pant legs

Points are mostly below the elbow and the knee. Keep your clothes on.

  • Something to eat first

    Not hungry and not full.

  • A list of what you take

Medicines, vitamins and herbs, so we know all of it.

  • Tell us first

Pregnancy, blood thinners or a bleeding disorder, a pacemaker, lymph node removal, or a fear of needles. We adjust, or suggest other care.
